Five Vegan friendly food vendors that even the most carnivorous can enjoy!

The vegan market is on a consistent soar over the past few years. We are seeing plant based diets taking over Instagram and colourful veggie dishes all over our feeds. Leeds is a foodie haven and we had no doubt we would find some vegan gems all over the city. We have sought out some spots in which have made room on their menus for our vegan friends. We loved these dishes and so would anyone wanting to consume some animal friendly grub.

  1. Belgrave

We are huge fans of Belgrave. An indie, comfy and colourful space in the city centre. Belgrave is notorious for its high end style fast food. Home to Patty Smiths burgers and Doughboys pizza food vendors which create mouthwatering feasts for any diet. The vegan session fries are so tasty you won’t believe they are covered with kale. Doughboys have created a vegan pizza which mixes the wonderful tastes of Italy and India. A butternut squash puree covered base covered with spiced veggies then topped with a vegan garlic mayo and sautéed shallots. It was incredible and their half price pizza slices mean any budget is more than welcome to enjoy the tastes created.

2. Rola Wala

Rola Wala is a resident food vendor in our much loved trinity kitchen, The Indian fusion company have created healthy, fresh food in which leaves you satisfied yet feeling great. Spices are used to jazz up the dishes without the need for too much oil or salt. Our favourite vegan dish is the famous Red dal, a beetroot and lentil curry stew which is screaming flavour. Pair it with either a Naan roll, grain bowl or cauliflower rice bowl, cover it with salads and Bombay mix and you will have no regrets.

3. Hyde Park Book Club

This wonderful diamond of Leeds is home to some incredible meat replacement dishes. HPBC have dedicated its menu to the vegans of Leeds, they import their meat replacements from out of the county and have been known to fool even meat lovers. The burgers are shockingly amazing. You honestly wouldn't know the difference; we would recommend a trip here just to be in awe of what science in the kitchen has created. We also love the vegan chicken sandwich or hot dogs, this place is filled with animal friendly filling treats for anyone.

4. Cats Pyjamas

The Cats Pyjamas is a Headingley Indian street food cafe which flourished in the last few years so much so they found themselves a second venue on Headrow, City Centre. The menu is inspired by street food in Delhi. Opened by Scottish entrepreneur Allison White; working alongside youngest Indian chef to earn a michelin star. A menu crafted to tantalize taste buds and to transport you the streets of india. The menu has many vegan dishes which are delicious we loved the traditional railway potato curry and the Punjabi Chole. Both heartwarmingly filled with spices and tastes which make you feel as though you are on a taste adventure; also try the vegan roti especially if you love mild flavours

5. Little Tokyo

From the outside little Tokyo, looks like a place you could brush past. But don’t be fooled by the quaint outside. Go inside and you will be blown away by the artistic decor. The owner is an artist who has created the restaurant as not just a Japanese food vendor but a touristic experience. It’s beautiful, tables and chairs have been lowered into the floor and art work hangs lovingly. Best of all in the middle of the restaurant is a Koi pond and mini waterfall; the stunning design is enough to entice you but the menu is wonderful with so many vegan options you may have trouble choosing. The lunch menu is two courses for £6 (amazing); so you are able to carelessly fill yourself with noodles, tofu, fresh spring rolls, sushi and endless cups of complementary green tea.
