So Doncaster isn't exactly the food capital of Yorkshire, but being born and bred here I have discovered some pretty good eats in the town centre. I'm going to start with a healthy cafe, with summer looming and that bikini bod in the making there's ‘Pure Lunch’ set out to satisfy those unhealthy pizzas and take-away cravings by creating healthier alternatives. Tucked away just outside of the high-street this quaint café is the perfect pit-stop for a fresh, healthy lunch.
Wanting to indulge on pizza but don’t want to deal with the dreaded food-baby and feeling sluggish afterwards? Flatbreads are available from pesto chicken with olives to piri-piri chicken with spinach and sweet-corn and you can enjoy these guilt free.
The décor has a rustic charm and on the counter is a selection of healthy snack bars, encouraging customers to continue their healthy eating after they visit the café. There's also casual seating in the form of benches and stools, creating a relaxed and chilled environment for customers to enjoy their meals.
After viewing the menu, it inspired me to create a flatbread at home, using a tortilla wrap, chopped tomatoes', reduced fat cheese and ham. This definitely curbed my pizza craving and left me feeling great that I could enjoy my pizza but still feel healthy.
Why don't you take a visit to Pure Lunch, at 5 Wood St, Doncaster DN1 3LH? Or if you don’t live nearby try to create healthier versions of your favourite take-away meals like a healthy flatbread!
